Monday, June 20: Arriving in Accra

We’re finally here! After a 10 hour flight from JFK to Accra (capital of Ghana), we touched down around 12:30 pm local time. It was an overnight flight and we were blessed with good rest. Praise the Lord, all of our luggage arrived safely, which means I will not have to wear one set of clothing for an entire week like last time! Driving around the city brought back good memories of our previous trip as we were instantly able to recognize some of the familiar streets and landmarks. Today we will rest, purchase supplies and we will travel to Kumasi tomorrow bright and early. The city of Kumasi isabout 250km northwest of Accra, which should take us about 4-5 hrs by coach bus.

Todays weather was in the low 30s, with a constant gentle breeze which made it very pleasant outside. Still as we sleep, we will shell out the 1.5 cedis ($1 Cdn) an hour to air condition our room and consider it money well spent!

Peace,
Gary
